HISTORIC ARTIFACTS WERE JUST SITTING ON TOP OF A GARBAGE PILE
So how did this happen? We just don’t know. But we do know how someone saved them. David Rose works at the garbage dump in question. He’s the one who discovered all of these historic artifacts, literally on top of a garbage pile. He found Sir Winston Churchill’s famous top hat, a cigar case as well as more than 200 letters from his cook that she wrote to her son. So you can imagine that these letters offer never before seen insight into Churchill and his life at home. Had it not been for Rose, all of this would have been lost to history.

GABAGE TREASURE WORTH OVER $13,000!
So just last week, Rose presented these on the BBC show, Antiques Roadshow. Experts have estimated all the items’ worth at more than $13,000. All the found items were gifts Churchill gave to his cook. But there was even an autographed photo of Churchill, too. Rose said, “She used to write to her son every day about the daily goings of Winston Churchill, what he was getting up to, how he was feeling and just interesting stuff about him.” Experts have noted that almost no one would have accepted these items as genuine. But the detailed letters have everyone convinced.
